I pretty much hate winter. The only good thing about it is Christmas and since that is over, I am over it! Winters in Ohio blow, but we have much better weather than those poor people who live near the Great Lakes. Thinking of moving south yet, Clevelanders? The day after Christmas, we got about six inches of snow. It was the first snow of the winter. Last night, we got about three more inches. That meant that me and hubby had to get the snow shovels out and try to clear the driveway. Good exercise!
I am lucky that I don't have to work right now, but my hubby is not so lucky. The company he works for (the same one I used to work for, though there were different rules for my department) will pretty much fire a person who takes a day off even if you are in the hospital or snowed in. Yeah, they are pretty much a horrible company. So, after it snowed, I was snug and cozy in the house, playing like three hours worth of Sims 3 and hubby had to drive out in the snow. I was so worried about him! Even though the snow plow only went down our country road once and did not use salt, he made it home with the help of four-wheel drive. Relief!
Driving in the snow terrifies me. I mean, super scared. It until a few years ago that I really started to freak. It was April, in the upper-twenties, and I slide on a bridge and in to the median on the highway. Luckily, I got back out on my own. That day, more than twenty accidents were reported. The car had a bit of damage - broken tail light, tire deflated, crack in back bumper, but otherwise everything was okay. Something changed that day - I became a nervous wreck who was terrified of winter. Last January, it was snowing lightly on my way to work. I was going very slowly over the same bridge I slid on a few years ago. My circle spun in a complete circle, barely missing hitting a truck. Yep, I was done.
So, this winter, I am home. I don't have to drive, except if I need to get groceries or gas. I have a lot of time on my hands and so far I have not been using it wisely. I wake up late, play computer games, and generally do nothing all day. I am also getting tired of being stuck in the house so much. I figure I have two options - getting some kind of suv or tank so I can leave the house when I want or just hibernate and wait until spring. I am leaning toward option two. :)
